CHICO is a California band pulling from hardcore, punk, and rock without overthinking it. Fast when it needs to be, heavy where it counts, with hooks that actually stick. There’s a balance between grit and melody that keeps everything grounded but memorable.
The band started in 2018 with Lance and Tony, who met in college in 2016 and bonded over going to shows and the bands that shaped them. After getting closer, they started writing together in Lance’s dorm, spending hours running through chord progressions, building melodies, and putting lyrics together on the spot. That early stretch led to their "Summer" EP in 2019 and a run of local shows before everything came to a halt during COVID.
After a few years, CHICO picked things back up with a new lineup, carrying the same foundation into something tighter and more fully realized. Since then, they’ve shared the stage with bands like Death Lens, Together Pangea, Strawberry Fuzz, Spaced, Initiate, and more, while also headlining their own shows and building a strong local draw.
Now part of the New Morality Zine roster, CHICO is still building, with new music on the way and plans to keep rocking.
