Description

Montclair’s self-titled EP captures a band continuing to grow into its own sound. Across three songs, the Connecticut post-hardcore outfit explores anxiety, identity, self-doubt, and the struggle to break free from the mental restraints we place on ourselves. While each track carries its own mood and character, they come together around a shared sense of introspection and emotional honesty that the band worked on for years before we are hearing these final versions.

Written and recorded with the goal of refining the band’s direction while leaving room to experiment, the EP reflects Montclair’s evolution both as musicians and as people. From the paranoia and rumination of “Solace in the Moment After” to the self-discovery of “Eyesight” and the relationships that help reveal our true selves on “Corresponding Numbers,” the three songs move toward a common idea: finding the strength to trust yourself, connect with others, and step outside the fear of how you’re perceived.

The EP was produced by Greg Thomas, engineered by Nick DeMichele, Greg Thomas, and Chris Teti, mixed by DeMichele, and mastered by Bill Henderson. “Solace in the Moment After” also features guest vocals from Brie of Holder.
