LAST DAYS OF HEAVEN

Last Days of Heaven is the shoegaze-driven project of Dallas-based multi-instrumentalist Juan Vargas, also known for his work with The Secret Truth of the Universe. A former film major turned video editor, Vargas draws from influences like My Bloody Valentine, Deerhunter, Sparklehorse, and Slint, shaping music with a cinematic sensibility reflected in the project’s name—an homage to Gus Van Sant’s Last Days and Terrence Malick’s Days of Heaven.

His debut EP Out of Body blends bedroom-recorded intimacy with expansive textures, exploring themes of aging, guilt, and letting go. Produced over two years with mixing by Nick Bassett (Whirr, Deafheaven) and contributions from close collaborators, the record captures a deeply personal, atmospheric vision that is both fragile and powerful.
