MONTCLAIR is a Connecticut post-hardcore band built around passionate, genuine, and aggressive songwriting. Formed in 2021, they’ve spent the past couple years playing throughout the Northeast scene and touring DIY across the country, evolving through different lineups and sounds into what they are today. Drawing from late ’90s/early 2000s post-hardcore, emo, melodic hardcore, and alternative rock, their sound pulls from bands like Thursday, Cave In, Cursive, Thrice, Planes Mistaken for Stars, and My Chemical Romance, balancing emotional vulnerability with the weight and intensity of hardcore.
Their self-titled EP, out September 25th, is the result of years of growth, capturing the band refining their sound while leaving room to experiment. Across three songs, Montclair explores anxiety, identity, self-doubt, and the struggle to break free from the mental restraints we place on ourselves. The songs ultimately focus on finding the strength to trust yourself, connect with others, and move through the world without being defined by how you’re perceived. The EP was produced by Greg Thomas, engineered by Nick DeMichele, Greg Thomas, and Chris Teti, mixed by DeMichele, and mastered by Bill Henderson, with guest vocals from Brie of Holder on the track “Solace in the Moment After.”
The single ,"Eyesight", is out today and available on all streaming platforms.
